Privacy Policy

For the Save Video Status: Story Saver application.

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, disclose, and protect information when you download, install, and use the App. It applies to all users of the App worldwide and is designed to comply with the Google Play Developer Program Policies, the Google Play Families Policy (where applicable), the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), and other applicable data protection laws.

By downloading, installing, or using the App, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy and agree to the collection, use, and disclosure of information as described herein. If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not use the App.

The App allows users to view and save video and photo status/story updates that have been shared by their contacts on a supported messaging platform, using local device storage.

The App is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to WhatsApp Inc., Meta Platforms, Inc., or any other messaging platform. All trademarks referenced belong to their respective owners.

2. Information We Collect

We are committed to data minimization. Per our current Google Play Data Safety declaration, the App does not collect or share personal data with third parties through its core functionality. However, for full transparency, the categories of information potentially involved in operating the App are described below.

a) Media Files You Choose to Save

The App reads and displays status/story files (images and videos) that are already saved in a designated folder on your device’s local storage by a third-party messaging app, and allows you to copy selected files into the App’s own storage directory at your explicit request. We do not upload, transmit, or access these files on any remote server; all saving, viewing, and deletion happens locally on your device.

b) Device and Log Information

Like most Android apps, the App’s underlying software libraries (including the Android operating system and any advertising or crash-reporting SDKs) may automatically process limited technical information, such as device model, operating system version, app version, language settings, general (non-precise) region derived from IP address, crash logs, and diagnostic/performance data. This information is used solely to operate, maintain, and improve the App and is not used to identify you personally.

c) Advertising Identifiers

Because the App is ad-supported (“Contains ads”), it may work with third-party advertising networks that use the Android Advertising ID (AAID) and similar non-personally-identifiable identifiers to serve and measure ads. Advertising partners may collect data as described in Section 5 (Third-Party Services) below.

d) Information You Provide Directly

If you contact us for support (for example, by email), we receive the information you choose to include in that communication, such as your email address and the contents of your message.

We do not knowingly collect your name, precise location, contacts, SMS/call logs, financial information, or health information through the App.

3. How We Use Information

Any information described in Section 2 is used only for the following purposes:

  • To provide, operate, and maintain the core functionality of the App (viewing and saving status/story files locally on your device)
  • To diagnose technical issues, fix bugs, and improve app stability and performance
  • To display and measure the performance of in-app advertisements through our advertising partners
  • To respond to customer support requests and communicate with you about the App
  • To detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, security incidents, or violations of our Terms of Service
  • To comply with applicable legal obligations

We do not use your information to build advertising profiles beyond what our third-party ad partners independently perform under their own privacy policies, and we do not sell your personal information.

4. Permissions We Request

In accordance with Google Play’s Permissions and APIs that Access Sensitive Information policy, we request only the minimum permissions necessary for the App to function, and each is explained below:

Permissions requested by the App and why each is needed
PermissionWhy It Is Needed
Storage / Media Access (Photos and Videos, or All Files Access on supported OS versions) To read status/story files saved by a messaging app on your device and to let you save selected files into the App’s own folder
Internet Access To display advertisements, check for app updates, and enable optional crash/analytics reporting
Network State To detect connectivity so the App can inform you when a download or ad cannot load

We do not request permissions for Camera, Microphone, Contacts, Call Logs, SMS, or Precise Location, and we do not access any data beyond what is necessary for the features described above. You can review or revoke any granted permission at any time via your device’s Settings > Apps > Save Video Status: Story Saver > Permissions.

5. Third-Party Services

The App may integrate with third-party service providers to deliver advertising and to monitor app stability. These providers operate independently and have their own privacy policies governing how they handle data. These may include:

  • Google AdMob / Google Ads – for serving in-app advertisements
  • Google Play Services – for core Android functionality, licensing, and security checks
  • Firebase (Google) Crashlytics / Analytics – for crash reporting and aggregate, non-identifying usage analytics

These third parties may collect information such as advertising identifiers, IP address, device information, and interaction data directly, in accordance with their own privacy policies:

We do not control these third parties’ data collection practices and encourage you to review their respective privacy policies. Where required by applicable law, these partners are contractually required to process data in compliance with GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant regulations.

6. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party for monetary consideration. We may disclose limited, non-personally-identifying technical information in the following circumstances:

  • Service Providers: With vendors who perform services on our behalf (such as advertising and crash analytics, as described in Section 5), solely to enable those services
  • Legal Requirements: If required to do so by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Trusted Tools & Utilities Apps, our users, or the public
  • Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, restructuring, or sale of assets, in which case data may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Privacy Policy or a materially similar one
  • With Your Consent: In any other circumstance, only with your explicit consent

We do not share the video or photo status files you save with any third party, these remain on your local device storage under your control.

7. Data Storage, Security, and Retention

Local Storage: The video and photo status files you save through the App are stored locally on your device’s storage, not on our servers. You retain full control over these files and can delete them at any time directly through the App or your device’s file manager.

Security Measures: Any data transmitted by the App (such as ad requests or diagnostic logs) is encrypted in transit using industry-standard protocols (such as TLS/SSL). We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

Retention: Because the App does not collect or store personal data on our servers, there is generally no server-side personal data for us to retain or delete on your behalf. Locally saved media files persist on your device until you delete them. Any limited diagnostic or technical logs processed by our service providers are retained only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, consistent with those providers’ own retention practices.

No method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children’s Privacy

The App is rated for general audiences (3+) on Google Play; however, it is not specifically directed at children, and its core purpose (saving status content shared by contacts on a messaging platform) is intended for users capable of forming and using such accounts. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction) in violation of the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), GDPR-K, or the Google Play Families Policy.

If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under the applicable age without verified parental consent, we will take steps to delete such information promptly. Parents or guardians who believe their child has provided personal information to us should contact us using the details in Section 13 so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

Any advertising served within the App is configured to comply with applicable child-directed advertising restrictions where the App is classified as directed at children.

9. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have certain rights regarding any personal information processed in connection with the App, including the right to:

  • Access a copy of the personal information (if any) we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete information
  • Delete personal information we may hold, subject to legal exceptions
  • Object to or restrict certain processing, including opting out of personalized advertising
  • Data portability, where applicable
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent

Managing Advertising Preferences: You can opt out of personalized/interest-based advertising by adjusting your device’s Settings > Google > Ads > “Opt out of Ads Personalization,” or by resetting your Advertising ID.

Managing App Permissions: You can grant or revoke storage and other permissions at any time via Settings > Apps > Save Video Status: Story Saver > Permissions.

Uninstalling the App: You may delete the App and any locally saved media at any time, which will remove App-related data from your device.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 13. We will respond to verified requests within the timeframe required by applicable law (e.g., 30 days under GDPR, 45 days under CCPA/CPRA).

10. Content, Copyright, and User Conduct

The App is a utility tool that enables you to save status/story content that has already been shared with you by your own contacts on a third-party messaging platform. We do not host, distribute, or have access to this content on any server, all files remain on your local device.

You are solely responsible for ensuring that you have the right and permission to save, store, share, or repost any content accessed through the App, and for respecting the intellectual property rights and privacy of the original content creators. The App must not be used to infringe upon any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary rights, or to violate the privacy of any individual.

The App is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by WhatsApp Inc., Meta Platforms, Inc., or any other third-party messaging platform referenced in its marketing materials.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, the App’s functionality, or applicable legal or regulatory requirements. When we make material changes, we will revise the “Last Updated” date at the top of this Policy and, where required by law, provide additional notice (such as an in-app notification or a Google Play listing update).

We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Your continued use of the App after any changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
